Systems Engineering Lead – Ship Intelligence

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Ship Intelligence team as a Systems Engineering Lead. In this role you will be leading the system requirements validation and verification, systems integration related to the through-lifecycle development, maintenance and disposal of systems in the Ship Intelligence product portfolio. The role is required to work closely with both external and internal Stakeholders such as General Managers, Technical Product Managers, Chief Engineer and Systems Engineering CoP (Community of Practice) to ensure the system engineering related topics are properly applied throughout the lifecycle of Ship Intelligence. The candidate should exhibit both a technical breadth and depth of systems engineering.

Key Accountabilities

  • Be the technical lead for the integrated systems architecture for the Ship Intelligence portfolio
  • Lead Systems Engineering across the entire lifecycle. Be the focal point for System Engineering expertise within the Ship Intelligence.
  • Be the technical lead for the requirements engineering, system engineering tools/processes and overseeing the system level verification, and validation.
  • Guide the project/programme teams on System Thinking and the Systems Engineering approach to defining solutions, ensuring they address the full set of requirements
  • Collaborate and facilitate the continued development and deployment of a best practice approach to model-based enterprise and systems engineering
  • Promote the Systems approach and guide projects / teams in learning how to use the approach
  • Develop the System Engineering strategy for the Ship Intelligence business and ensure this is reflected in the projects governance and projects master schedules
  • Facilitator of Systems Engineering Training for personnel working on the Ship Intelligence products.
  • Be the point of contact with the projects to support and coach the teams regarding systems engineering and drive the right behaviours
  • Contribute in Ship Intelligence quality assessments

Key Experiences and Qualifications

  • Relevant science, technology, engineering, or maths degree qualified
  • Minimum of 5-years demonstrable experience in safety-related system engineering including both new product introduction and maintenance of existing systems. Preferable in Cyber-Physical field of products.
  • Wide understanding and experience related to systems engineering tools, methods and processes.
  • An understanding of the capabilities and contributions software offers in software-intensive systems
  • Working knowledge of the regulatory and legal framework within the Marine Industry (e.g. SOLAS/IMO, relevant standards, classification rules and flag state rules) is desirable
  • Membership of INCOSE is desirable
  • Global outlook and exposure to different challenges, cultures, and ways of operating
  • Experience in developing, operating, installing, servicing, or managing marine equipment are desirable
